Kinect Sports Games

Kinect opens many possibilities with the ability to recognize the body movements and voice recognition. It could take what Wii Sports started and expand on it greatly.
Here are some Kinect game ideas in the sports genre:

Kinect Golf
Whether it is an official game or something like Kinect Tiger Woods, golfing on Kinect would be awesome. If you have ever played on a golf simulator, you’ll know that such a game definitely has potential on a motion-sensing peripheral like Kinect.
KinectBoxing
KinectFight Night would be awesome! Being able to duck and weave, throw punches that the console actually recognizes rather than see who can button mash the best would be sweet. Even playing games like Punch Out! would be awesome, because of their puzzle like nature, but still a fun boxing game.
Kinect Madden
The Madden video game series IS console football. There hasn’t been a competitor that has even come close. Implementing Kinect into the next Madden game will be awesome. Being able to actually throw a pass, to catch it, and to juke and dodge out of the way of the defenders will be pretty sweet.
Kinect Tennis
Though, beyond tossing up a server and swinging, I don’t see tennis being a strong game using Kinect unless they can come up with a way to simulate running back and forth on the court.
Kinect Soccer
Although running, like in tennis, is a big part of soccer, I think a Kinect soccer game could actually be decent. The problem becomes how well the motion cameras can track your foot movements since that is a large part of soccer also.
Lastly, Kinect Exercise games
Although people were skeptical of the Wii Fit, it became extremely popular. Then, as other developers began releasing games that utilized the Wii Fit balance board, more and more ideas began to be implemented on just how to make this work. Soon enough, “exercise games” became a Wii genre in and of themselves. I think Kinect will be the same way. The ability to get instant feedback on how you are doing an exercise is extremely important to working out properly. Kinect exercise games will be able to do that.
These are just thoughts and ideas… until more information is released and we are actually able to buy Kinect, we won’t know what Microsoft or third-party developers have in mind as far as Kinect sports games or Kinect exercise games go, but I do know there will be some awesome, innovative ideas implemented into existing sports games and brand new ones that will blow you away.

Big opportunity here but accuracy of mapping the entire body is key. If natal can execute here, the possibilities are limitless.
Wii tennis games (all of them) are a joke. Horrible responsiveness and just ruins the sport.
But if Natal can map wrist movements, then the avatar of the player can mimmic racquet head changes and thus spin/flat, down-the-line, cross court shots can be generated in real time in a realistic fashion. The best tennis game every (in terms of physics, realism and graphics) was TopSpin 3. Marrying TS3 with Natal is a tennis player’s online wet dream.
