Are you looking to buy a cheap Kinect sensor? Unfortunately, most stores won’t be discounting the price because Kinect will be selling well at the regular price. But, there are some ways that you can save up to $20 or so, by shopping at a specific place online. Amazon is able to sell Kinects cheaper (when considering the final total price) than other places.

Why is Amazon cheaper? The sell Kinect as the same price as other places, but there are some key differences. Most other places you end up having to pay for both shipping and sales tax, which can increase the price of Kinect. While you can save on shipping charges by shopping at a local store (if you can find one that even has Kinect in stock), you still end up paying sales tax. But, if you buy your Kinect and Kinect games on Amazon, then you will be able to pay less simply because you won’t be paying those 2 additional charges.

Amazon offers FREE shipping on most of their items (as long as it is shipped by them and not a third party) and if the total price for your order is over $25. All Kinect games and the Kinect sensor, and especially the Kinect bundles are above $25 so that helps you to get those for cheaper, if you choose to shop from Amazon instead of other places online or offline.

Kinect Price Prediction

Although no official Kinect price has been announced, that doesn’t stop different analysts from guessing what they think may be the price of Kinect. There are different theories about how Microsoft will price Kinect. Some think that they’ll price the hardware lower to get the accessory into my living rooms, and then hopefully recoup the money from the sales of various Kinect games. Others think they will price the accessory higher because of the hard ware costs.

Michael Pachter, a video game analyst, has gone on record on his online show, “Pach Attack“, that he thinks Kinect will only be $50, and he’d be shocked that it would cost more than $79. He’s of the cheaper hardware, and recoup money on games mentality. He also mentioned that Microsoft may have a lower price point for Kinect because they’ll be able to sell more Xbox 360′s because of it. (UPDATE: He replied on a later show that it will definitely be more than $50-$70.)
